Behind the Scenes: On proposals and process

With the year winding down, there has been a whirlwind of inquiries for proposals and quotes. I'm so glad to have spent the time to map out that process and streamline it. As a solopreneur, organization is key to making sure I can direct my energy and creative juices for client work instead of administrative stuff.

Whether I'm undertaking a job for graphic recording, whiteboard videos or illustrations, there are 4 key documents that help make collaborations go smoothly. Here's what you can expect in your inbox.

  • First, we have the Proposal & Quote. This usually happens after an initial discussion about project details, budget considerations, requirements, deadlines etc.

  • Second, if we decide to work together a Statement of Work is drafted up. This is a formalized agreement to the terms and conditions of working together.

  • Third, in this line of work discussions and feedback sessions are a must. To ensure that everyone is on the same page, I'll record important information using my Client Session Notes template.

  • Lastly, an invoice is issued after everything is said and done.

I'm always a little sad when a project wraps up and so I prefer to think of the end of a project as, "Until next time!".

So until next time!
